Homer Campbell, a dental expert, took a look at the autopsy photos and noticed bite marks on Karla’s body that had been so far overlooked. Time passed and Karla’s case grew cold, but the investigators refused to give up and once Don Weber was appointed state’s attorney in the county, he reopened the case. Two witnesses saw her talking to a man outside her house at around 10:45 am and a friend of Karla’s went by shortly after 11 am, but no one opened the door.
